Take a family hayride back in time with storytelling about “the most historically active place” along the Blue Ridge Parkway. An Appalachian cultural & historical center celebrating the people, music, art & natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A century old, the Orchard sits astride the Parkway, preserving some of the most amazing scenery in NC. You will enjoy the heirloom apples, authentic local music, arts and crafts plus other items in the gift shop. Free music and special happenings every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. This summer we’re featuring our Super Saturdays, special Appalachian heritage activities for kids age 6-12. Each Super Saturday, kids learn how to weave a garden loom, carve sweet potato figures, play a harmonica or wilderness survival. We also feature live music and dancing on Thursdays through Sundays and a music jam on Wednesdays.
