July 8 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Monday, repeating until August 12, 2019
This summer marks the 101st year of Hendersonville’s street dances. What began in 1918 as a celebration to welcome the soldiers home from World War I is now a favorite tradition.
People of all ages gather in downtown Hendersonville each Monday evening from mid-July through mid-August to enjoy mountain heritage music and dancing. People square dance and clog to a band playing traditional bluegrass music. Special appearances by area clogging teams make for a entertaining, foot-stomping evening.
Lively instructions are given by a local caller. At 6:30 p.m., beginners receive instruction on some basic square dance steps.
Seating area opens at 5:30 p.m. Please leave your pets comfortably at home. In case of inclement weather, the dance will be postponed until 8 p.m.; if the weather does not clear by 8 p.m., the dance will be cancelled.
