Mile High Fourth of July

June 29, 2018 - July 4, 2018

Mile High Fourth of July

For a sizzling cool Independence Day getaway, come to the third annual Mile High Fourth of July celebration.

The North Carolina resort towns of Banner Elk and Beech Mountain, located high in the Blue Ridge Mountains, have combined forces on a six-day extravaganza to celebrate our nation’s independence.

The bookends of this fun-filled celebration are Beech Mountain’s Fireworks/47th Annual Roasting of the Hog on Saturday (June 30) and Banner Elk’s Fourth of July Parade and Party in the Park on Wednesday (July 4).

This year features an upgraded and expanded fireworks display to light the night with plenty of oohs and ahhs and booms!

Live music plays a big role, with multiple bands performing at various venues across six days.

Theater lovers can treat themselves to one of three performances of “The Wiz” presented by the award-winning summer theater program at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, while Ensemble Stage’s professional theater troupe, also based in Banner Elk, will give several performances of the hilarious play “Red, White & Tuna.”

Scenic views from the 5506′ Skybar are available Friday through Sunday at Beech Mountain Resort, along with mountain biking on the resort’s downhill trails.

Other fun activities include swimming and the public beach at Wildcat Lake in Banner Elk, and miles of high altitude hiking on the Emerald Outback trail system at the top of Beech Mountain.
