Farm to Fork Dinner
August 25, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm$125
Locally sourced food from Burnsville and surrounding mountain communities will be the centerpiece for the fourth annual Farm to Fork Dinner. Agricultural nonprofit TRACTOR hosts the event and has partnered with Taylor Montgomery, executive chef at Mountain Air Country Club, to prepare the dinner.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails on South Main Street, followed by dinner at 6 p.m. inside Burnsville Town Center. The 42nd Street Jazz Band will provide live entertainment.
Montgomery is an ideal choice to prepare the meal because Mountain Air Country Club is a regular TRACTOR customer. Montgomery regularly submits a list of produce needs, and TRACTOR fills the order with products from its farmers.
TRACTOR works with more than 50 small farms in Yancey, Mitchell, Burke, McDowell, Avery, Madison, Henderson and Buncombe counties to aggregate produce and meet demands of larger buyers. The organization also trains farmers in best practices for food handling and provides access to equipment, such as farm machinery, refrigeration and packing facilities. All proceeds from the dinner go toward TRACTOR’s efforts to support local agriculture.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available online or at the TRACTOR facility, 54 Ferguson Hill Road, Burnsville, or the Yancey County Chamber of Commerce.
