2 day event! Overnight relay runners love the Smoky Mountain relay, which was patterned after the famous Hood to Coast relay (12-person, 2-van team) in the Pacific Northwest. As a team member, you will be one of the first to experience the 212 miles of trails, forest service, and rural county roads that traverse this beautiful area. The overnight relay run starts at Pink Beds Park in Brevard, NC and ends at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City, NC. The Smoky Mountain Relay course takes runners through some of the most beautiful, pristine, and challenging terrain in the Southeast. Along the route runners will see the magnificent granite dome of Looking Glass and spectacular views from the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Mountain to Sea trail.
Join us for, the 6th annual Gnarliest Kids Adventure Race (THE GNAR) offers kids, ages five through 14, the opportunity to experience the thrill of adventure racing. Teams of two will work together to navigate a variety of challenges. The course is TOP SECRET! North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) is hosting a half century bike ride in honor of Collier Lilly. The ride offers a beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain route, the 50-mile half century with 3,600 feet of climbing, that will start and end at Carrier Park in Asheville. In keeping with Outward Bound’s bedrock principles of “challenge and discovery,” the Collier Lilly Ride for NCOBS will take riders over challenging mountain passes and allow them to discover scenic roads for the first time. This exciting event is being held on Memorial Day Weekend and in conjunction with the ever-popular Mountain Sports Festival.
The 5th annual Hunter Subaru LPC Throwback Triathlon is the perfect event in which to challenge one’s self, regardless of competition experience or athletic prowess. It features a 200-yard outdoor pool swim, a 17.5 mile bike on quiet country roads, and a rolling 5k run with an on-track finale in which to summon your mighty kick to the tape! The Kid’s Splash N’ Dash, which begins at 10:30, means even budding athletes can participate in the throwback thrills without adults towering overhead!
