Whether spending your time uniting with friends for a camping adventure, experiencing 6 stages filled with world-class music, exploring 8 family adventure villages, rejuvenating with dozens of healing arts workshops, or perusing 60 artisanal and culinary vendors – LEAF festival offers you the unique opportunity to tailor the weekend to your dreams. Prepare to expand your horizons with a once in a lifetime adventure!

Want to get involved in co-creating that magic that is LEAF? We humbly welcome one and all to come on board and volunteer. It takes the generosity of over 500 volunteers each Festival to cultivate an event that welcomes over 10,000 community members to Lake Eden. Whether setting up early, helping us keep the land green and beautiful, hydrating & feeding the community, assisting with the creative experience, or packing up a weekend of action on the backend – the hearts and hands of volunteers are key to LEAF’s success! Woolly Worm Festival @ Historic Banner Elk School
Oct 21 @ 9:00 am – Oct 22 @ 4:00 pm
Woolly Worm Festival @ Historic Banner Elk School | Banner Elk | North Carolina | United States

Since 1978, this quirky, world-famous festival has been used to predict the upcoming winter weather for the North Carolina High Country.

According to legend, the 13 bands on the woolly worm (woolly bear caterpillar) represent the 13 weeks of winter. Brown bands indicate a mild week, black bands indicate a cold, snowy week. Since every woolly worm has different colors, the Woolly Worm festival holds races to determine which worm is used to make the forecast. The owner of the winning worm receives $1,000!

Festival also includes about 175 craft vendors, food, live entertainment and rides. This two-day family event annually draws more than 20,000 attendees.

The twists and turns of DuPont’s famous trail system will dare them to push forward, not knowing what bogies and specters might lurk around each corner! The One Mile Spooky Sprint will be Halloween themed, and a great chance for kids and kids-at-heart to break in their costumes a day early, without stressing about time limits, as this event is untimed!
