This year’s Liver Mush Festival will also feature a Beer and Wine Garden for the first time, located in front of and inside Refinery 13, North Main Street in the Festival area. Adults 21 years of age and older will be allowed in the Beer and Wine Garden area between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM by paying $1 to receive a wristband. All proceeds from the wristband sales will go to the local Women’s Shelter. For the motorcycles enthusiast, it will be the 1st Annual Hog on Hog Poker Run, Saturday, June 3, 2017, $20.00 per motorcycle. Each registration includes complimentary BBQ sandwich at the end of the run. Registration begins at 1:00 PM at the Marion Tailgate Market; first bike out – 1:30 PM; last bike out – 2:30 PM. Run ends with bike display on Main Street @ 4:30 PM as part of the Liver Mush Festival. The 5th annual Hunter Subaru LPC Throwback Triathlon is the perfect event in which to challenge one’s self, regardless of competition experience or athletic prowess. It features a 200-yard outdoor pool swim, a 17.5 mile bike on quiet country roads, and a rolling 5k run with an on-track finale in which to summon your mighty kick to the tape! The Kid’s Splash N’ Dash, which begins at 10:30, means even budding athletes can participate in the throwback thrills without adults towering overhead!
Named by USA Today as one of the Top Twenty Festivals in North Carolina, Folkmoot is a ten-day event, held across the mountains of Western North Carolina in Waynesville, Clyde, Lake Junaluska, Maggie Valley, Canton, Cherokee, Franklin, Hickory, Asheville, and Hendersonville, plus a first performance in Greenville, South Carolina. The 2017 festival dates are July 20 – 30 and feature cultural ambassadors/dance performing groups from India, Netherlands, Slovenia, Argentina, Russia, Israel, Taiwan, Wales and local Appalachian and Cherokee dancers and musicians.

Directions from Asheville is to go North on I-26 to Exit 9 and take US 19 north 30 miles to Hwy 226 South to the right. Follow Hwy 226 to Skyview Circle and turn right and follow Majestic View to the top of the hill to the new fire station.
From Marion take Hwy 226 north towards Spruce Pine. When you pass under the Blue Ridge Parkway is will be on your left above Skyview Circle at the new fire station on Majestic View.
The only race of its kind in the region, participants will strap on headlamps and light up the night as they duke it out in the dusk. The twists and turns of DuPont’s famous trail system will dare them to push forward, not knowing what bogies and specters might lurk around each corner! The One Mile Spooky Sprint will be Halloween themed, and a great chance for kids and kids-at-heart to break in their costumes a day early, without stressing about time limits, as this event is untimed!
