Almost every Sunday, Harold and Carol Harless and a band of Old Fort pickers hold an all-skill level music session on the porch of the Mountain Gateway Museum. Bring an instrument or just your ears for this foot-tapping Sunday tradition!
This event is occurring at:
The Mountain Gateway Museum, nestled in an idyllic setting in the town of Old Fort, brings you stories that are almost as old as these hills. See what mountain life was like when you tour our historic log cabins. Have a picnic on the banks of Mill Creek. Visit on a Sunday to listen to (or play!) old-time and bluegrass music at our weekly pick-up jam on the porch. The museum offers activities indoors and out. We are on the NC Birding Trail, and several rare species show up on a regular basis. Also, Mill Creek is designated Mountain Heritage Trout Waters. Through our partnership with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission you can take advantage of our Tackle Loaner Program and reel in a fish or two! Check our website for the most up-to-date information on all of our programs, concerts, and festivals.
