With roaring streams, wild-flowering meadows and blazing sunsets topping tree-covered mountains, the Blue Ridge is a treasure trove of natural wonders. Adding to these gifts of nature are wonders of our own making: the majestic Biltmore Estate, the soaring Blue Ridge Parkway, and a delightful cascade of visitor-friendly farms, museums and adventurous playgrounds for adults and kids alike.

The Folk Art Center, located directly on the Blue Ridge Parkway, is one of Asheville's most popular attractions for both vacationers and locals. Juried craftspeople from the Blue Ridge Mountains of nine southern states are represented at the Folk Art Center. Exhibitions, special events and daily craft demonstrations are featured. The century-old Allenstand Craft Shop showcases both traditional and contemporary Appalachian arts & crafts by over 350 craftspeople. FREE ADMISSION and open daily, all year.

Grandfather Mountain is the highest peak in the Blue Ridge and a nature preserve of global importance. Inspiring scenery helps you leave city life behind when you cross the famous Mile High Swinging Bridge, photograph bears, otters, cougars, eagles and deer up close in natural habitats, and hike some of the South's finest trails. Special activities and events for families and children are scheduled throughout the year. Bring a picnic or enjoy our restaurant. Come visit us for the greatest Highland Games in the U.S. One mile from Blue Ridge Parkway, only 70 miles from Asheville. Open all year.

The Green River House is a magnificent nineteenth century mansion offering fine dining, B&B accomodations, and a spectacular venue for weddings and special events. Built in 1804 and surrounded by 366 acres, The Green River House reflects all the refinement of the old south. Home to Congressmen and Land Barons, this plantation was a backdrop of many heated debates over the impending war between the states. Also open for tours (2 or more), lunch & dinner (for groups of 10 or more.)
